Mojang announced at Minecon last year that they would begin working on a cross-play update. They already have a form of this from mobile devices to PC but not others. This of course is going to cost a catch; in order to cross-play, you will need a Realms subscription which begins at $3.99 a month. It's a low price to pay for such a feature and they agree it will take time because the game is run on Java.
This they hope to accomplish this later this year but it may also take convincing. With the game Rocket League which is supposed to hare cross-platform, Sony struggled to agree a to this. The same event may happen once this idea is released. We can only hope that they will add this glorious feature. Until then I will keep you guys posted. And remember to stay #PikaPerfect!
