Avengers: Infinity War was confirmed to happen after their Avengers: Civil War movie. It indeed was a complete cliffhanger. It definitely put me on the edge of my seat! I, personally, am very excited for the next movie which they have, in fact, started filming. The one thing I'm excited for is the first appearance of Thanos in a Marvel film. I remember him from the comics and have always awaited a film with him featured. Pretty much, what is happening so far as what I know is Thanos has successfully collected all of the infinity stones scattered across the universe. He has collected them to power the "Infinity Gauntlet" which has immortal power granted to Thanos.
The movie is planned to have a huge plot line and this came as a problem of time. In order to elongate the movie so that it doesn't take so long, they have chosen to split it up into different parts set to release next year (2018) and next in 2019. I feel that this will be quite a gap between each movie leaving suspense over an elongated period.
I am still very excited for this movie and have high hopes for it! There have been many dropped hints to it and I am very excited. Tom Holland, for example, recently teased at the possibility of seeing your friendly neighborhood Spider-man in the upcoming movie.
