Hey all you fellow music-lovers out there, this is going to be a simple review of Calvin Harris' new single "Feels" feat. Pharrel Williams, Big Sean, and Katy Perry. As you know, I'm a new author here on the website, so my further posts may have a different layout or a slightly different style as I will start to adjust and find my rhythm. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy this post and many more!
According to Andy Cush (spin.com), Calvin Harris brings his share of talent to the table through a skillful bit of music that is very similar to his song "Summer". But as for the guest vocalists, as you know, there are quite a few. So how do they keep from "summoning a Captain America of corniness" as Andy Cush describes it? Well, as it appears to this critic, Pharrel Williams saves the day as he is most at home with "funky and organic backing track" such as this one. Actually, if you think about it, some of Pharrel's previous songs are mainly the same style, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise that he executed his part well.
Moving on, the musical hype (themusicalhype.com) provides a good review of the lyrics of the song. According to this source, the lyrics sang by Pharrel Williams is not too exciting. It isn't terrible, but kind of plain. The same is said about Katy Perry's part. But Big Sean's rap verse is the type of lyrics you would expect from a rap section. Predictable. But overall, we us listeners capture the message: "Don't be afraid to catch feels". So if you are looking for good music, this is the song for you. But it falls a bit short in lyrics.
As said by michielvmusic (abitofpopmusic.com), Harris is a great DJ and could work with possibly any artist he desires. But because he is so great, it naturally becomes harder and harder for him to top his own songs. So the question arises: Does "Feels" have a chance at topping his other singles such as "Slide", "Rollin", and "Heatstroke"? This source claims that although all the artists add to the song, it may not be as good as his many other singles. But it sure comes close!
Thank you for devoting your time to read this post! It was a pleasure to write and I hope you liked it! Enjoy the rest of your day and look out for my next post!
