The main thing, we have noticed this week is the mysterious new lightning cube (pictured above) at the edge of the Desert on the Fortnite map. This was spawned out of the rift above is quite questionable in it's behavior. I have been messing with the rift with my friends and we've noticed some stuff. First and foremost, when you are near it, your shields increase immediately like a power source. There is also when you are on top of it, it behaves like a bouncer pad almost but this power and also increase it radius. When you "anger it" by shooting it, it will either shoot you off if near it or send lightning bolts at you, dealing significant damage.
The cube also, in terms of what it is, has a look like a universe at times, but it can also have strange symbols like code or an alien language. The newest addition to the map has been the obscure replacement of Tomato Town (RIP). It now goes by the name of Tomato Temple with half of Tomato town near it but the other half destroyed. In terms of loot, you're better off finding chests. With barely any drop loot, you'll be an easy kill if you don't get a weapon quickly. Anyways, All Hail Tomato Head and merrily move onto the newest item!
The newest item takes Season 5's rifts and puts it right in your pocket. Personally, I love this item. It can be used inside of buildings and more. It's the ideal thing to have on you if you find yourself in a sticky situation; then just glide away! Rifts have been a great addition providing transport towards the circle if you're so unlucky as to not find a launchpad. I enjoy this new addition and I hope you do. If rifts leave in Season 6, we'll still have these (I hope).
Season 5 so far has been great. With new skins from Drift to Ragnarok and P.A.N.D.A. team leader to Ravager there has been constant involvement with the community. The game certainly isn't as stale as Season 4 Battle Pass. I didn't like the Super-powered them so much. Season 6 will most likely be continuing with the stuff going down in the desert (and maybe Dinosaurs?). With only weeks until the Season ends, Twitch users are quite bummed by the lack of new Twitch Prime Packs. If we don't get the third one before the season ends, they better have something good to match with Season 6.
