Minecraft vs. Fortnite: Why Minecraft is Winning

Hey guys! I wanted to address the popularity of games at this time where many gamers may or may not be sure of what top play because most of these current games are boring (at least for me). I decided to take the two most trending games: Minecraft and Fortnite: Battle royale. Believe it or not, Fortnite is still trending among the 7 year olds. Minecraft has also risen back to it's former glory as many new updates have been released improving the game. Let's dive into it!

Minecraft:
The game made it's initial debut on May 17, 2009 and since has been well-known for all ages of gamers regardless of its E rated ESRB. The game of course was well-known and appreciated during release with popular Youtubers such as DanTDM, stampylongnose, Ssundee and more. eventually like any older game, the game slowly lost popularity to other games including Fortnite. But early this year the game made a huge advancement as the announced a larger player count than Fortnite and more Youtubers had returned to the newly updated game.

Minecraft currently now has nearly 91 million players per month online and is brought to new life by
"Minecraft veterans" or the new age of Youtubers such as PewDiePie and LazarBeam in a small selection of videos along with others who take just as much credit re-popularizing the game.

 Fortnite:
It is arguably true that Fortnite has lost popularity after its most popular seasons 1-4 (again arguably). The game debuted in Beta on July 21, 2017 and has remained in the "Beta" mode for allowance of constant updates. The game is however rated T for teens 13+ by the ESRB due to in-game violence and use of weaponry. The game, despite its ESRB rating had attracted audiences younger than 13 (and older as well) giving rise to more players during it's early seasons. The game is currently near the end of its 9th season (rumored to be last of the 'story-line') and has significantly lost players to other games including other Battle Royale games such as Apex Legends and Black Ops 4's Blackout mode.

As of now Fortnite peaks at nearly 78.3 million players per month. Plenty of it's original players still play such as Ninja (of course) and Tfue (ex-FaZe player) and bring the game its respectable audience still but not nearly as much as Minecraft.

I tried to keep personal opinion out of each side, but let me know which side you support in the comments below and what other games you'd like compared. I personally have been playing Minecraft more often due to not only self-interest but some influence from PewDiePie's new series.

Thanks as always for staying to read and stay #PikaPerfect!
